During summer months, I tend to spend more time outdoors enjoying the weather and going out for long nature walks. We all know that being outdoors exposes our skin to all sorts of toxins and allergens, sun damage, excess sweating and excess sebum. All these can create problems for our skin such as clogged pores, acne, sensitivity, fine lines and wrinkles. As you know I have oily skin so I feel like everything gets stuck to my face because of all the oil my facial t-zone produces and it’s worse during summer months. So because my skin produces more sebum during summer months, I always switch up my skin care routine for the summer.
At the beginning of summer before I had the chance to switch up my skin care, I was lucky enough to receive a PR package from Derma E. I have used some of their products before like the Hydrating Day Crème with Hyaluronic Acid, make up remover, and their purifying toner mist which are all good products. So since they practically sent me their whole Purifying skin care collection minus their purifying oil-free moisturizer, I decided to include all these products as part of my summer skin care routine. It was the perfect way to test them out and enough time to tell you all about them and my opinion of each product.
So here is a bit of information about Derma E Purifying skin care collection, they call it a “A deep detox for your skin.” As I mentioned above, they also mentioned that “It happens day in and day out. Oil, sweat, bacteria and micro pollutants build up on skin and clog pores, leading to visible damage such as acne, blemishes, sensitivity, fine lines, wrinkles, thinning or sagging skin. That’s why derma e® brings you Purifying Skincare. Doctor developed and clinically tested, it’s like a deep detox program to cleanse and reboot skin every day so it glows with pure health for years to come. Specially designed for oily, active or urban skin types, purifying formulas work naturally to draw out toxins, replenish vital nutrients and restore skin’s resistance to oxidative stress. Plus, the line is synthetic fragrance-free, allergy tested and made with minimal ingredients, so it’s safe for even sensitive skin.” You can find out more on their web site, click here Derma E.
Ok so onto my thought of each product: I have used all of them for a little over a month now. My skin looks and feels great. No acne, no blemishes which I used to get a few here and there in the summer due to the excess sebum my skin produces accompanied by sweat because of the heat. It’s not a great combination for oily/combination skin types, if you’re like me you know what I mean. Also my skin looks refreshed and smoother than before and I can tell because of the way my makeup goes on my skin. When your skin feels and looks good your makeup looks even better. Below are my thoughts on each product in the order of which they are used.
Derma E Purifying Gel Cleanser, “Derma E Purifying Gel Cleanser has a fragrance and sulfate-free, pH balanced formula that gently lathers away sweat, oil and toxin buildup for a refreshed, glowing complexion.” (Price $15.50)
Pros: I have mixed feelings about this cleanser. It’s good to use if you have no makeup on and you just went for a run and are super sweaty and oily. I love washing my face with this in the morning and after a workout because my face looks so refreshed and feels clean.
Con: The part I don’t like much is that it does not remove makeup completely. The first few times I used this cleanser, I noticed that after washing my face I can visibly still see the eye makeup residue still there on my eyes. So out of curiosity I took a makeup remover wipe and wiped it over my entire face and I still had makeup not only on my eyes but on my face too, there was still foundation residue left.
So here is how I started using this cleanser to make it work for me. I first use makeup wipes to remove my eye makeup and I also go over my entire face with it. Then I wash my face with the Purifying Gel Cleanser.
Derma E Purifying Daily Detox Scrub “is a gentle, natural exfoliant that lifts away micropollutants and impurities. It promotes healthy circulation and oxygenation, and leaves skin soft, smooth and radiant.” (Price $15.50)
Pros: I love this better than the cleanser. I use this at night after washing my face with Derma E Purifying Gel Cleanser so it can remove any makeup residue left that the wipes and cleanser didn’t remove. I don’t use this over my eyes because it’s a very sensitive area and the little beads in this can be a bit harsh for your eye area. I love how smooth, soft and clean this scrub leaves my skin.
Cons: This is not really a con for me, but some people may find the beads in this scrub a little too harsh for the face. I do it very gently in circular motion as it is suggested and it works perfectly fine for me.
Derma E Purifying 2-in-1 Charcoal Mask, “has a dual-action deep detox formula that purges pores of deeply rooted toxins and exfoliates skin, revealing a dramatically cleaner, purely glowing complexion.” (Price: $19.50)
This is another great mask I have added to my favorites. I tend to use it twice a week in replacement of the Detox Scrub, simply because this mask also has little beads in it and they kind of scrub your face when you are removing the mask. So because I don’t want to over scrub my face I only use one of them at a time. You can see it working while it dries up, the oil is sucked up lol… and any other junk that might be lingering in your face. I normally leave it in until it dries and then I rinse it off. It leaves my skin smooth, so soft and feeling really clean. I really have no cons for this mask.

Derma E Purifying Toner Mist, “pH balanced formula that instantly refreshes, re-balances and fortifies skin against environmental pollutants.” (Price: $15.50)
This is supposed to be used after you wash your face and dry it to refresh your skin and it does just that. I love using this specially when it’s really hot and I need something to refresh my skin with (this is only when I have no makeup on). I have no cons for this product it is pretty good and it does what it’s meant to do.
Derma E Purifying Youth Serum, “is a concentrated, mineral rich treatment that shields against environmental stress, and boosts skin’s defenses against accelerated aging.” (Price: $29.50)
This serum is very light textured that absorbs into your skin pretty quickly leaving it smooth and hydrated. I love that it is not sticky like some serums I have used before and doesn’t leave you with any residue. I normally use this before I apply my SPF moisturizer in the morning and before my night time moisturizer as well. I have used it alone and it works just fine and my skin always feels smooth and moisturized.
Over all, I’m glad I decided to try these and used them as my summer skin care products. I love how my skin feels and I am mostly happy that I didn’t get any acne or blemishes. Using these products also got rid of some acne marks I had which I was really impressed about.
Have you tried any Derma E products? If yes, which ones?
